Job description

We are looking for a great writer with strong technical proficiencies to help our users succeed with the understanding and application of our products. As a Technical Writer at XipLink, you will be responsible for ensuring that the documentation for our products is clear, correct, comprehensive, and easy to read and empowers our users.

XipLink is starting a complete refresh of all customer-facing documentation and seeks an enthusiastic and self-sufficient candidate that would like to lead this process, working with our experienced technical team. Documentation will include a user manual and more in-depth technical guides to specific features. Following completion of this process the role will continue in supporting the documentation of new software and product features on an ongoing basis. Additional responsibilities will also include adapting this technical content for web use and in support of marketing, plus some support to technical proposals when required. XipLink's documentation will be both online and offline/linear in form.

XipLink’s products are globally deployed in wireless networks to enhance the performance and efficiency of our customers’ services. The XipLink team includes world class experts in networking protocols and network systems.

Technical Writer Requirements:

  • Excellent written English language skills: either English as a first language or native fluency as a second language
  • A high-level understanding of software products as it pertains to being able to effectively document features and functionality
  • A broad understanding of major networking technologies to facilitate accurate documentation, e.g. TCP/IP routing, QoS, security, virtualization
  • Experience with HTML and a web templating tool in support of online documentation is a definite benefit
  • Competence in graphics tools for editing images and creating diagrams
  • XipLink is seeking a candidate that can lead and drive our documentation creation and management in partnership with our existing global team (sales / marketing, product management, software development, quality assurance and field support personnel).
Preferred
  • Demonstrated history of effective technical writing in software and/or networking domains
  • Exposure to source code management tools such as git
Nice to Have
  • Fluency in other languages a bonus for supporting potential document translation into multiple languages Candidates contacted for follow up will be asked to submit examples of their writing.

Location

Plateau district, Montréal, QC. Great office view overlooking the mountain! Parking nearby may available for the right candidates.

Note: work is being performed entirely remotely during this phase of the pandemic!
