XipLink Optimizes GeoEye Third-Generation Backhaul

October 10, 2011 – Montréal, QC - XipLink is proud to announce that GeoEye Inc. (NASDAQ: GEOY), a leading source of geospatial information and insight, has successfully deployed a series of redundant XipLink XA-30K appliances into various networks around the globe to backhaul critical image data for their key customers. In addition to the recent upgrades, the two companies have worked closely together for more than five years on optimization technology for imaging data. To date, GeoEye has engineered three backhaul network upgrades: one in 2006, one in 2009 and most recently the 155 Mbps DVB-S2 network upgrade using state-of-the-art XipLink wireless link optimizers. The link utilization for imaging data now routinely exceeds 95% of available capacity resulting in financial payback on the XA-30K accelerators in a matter of months versus un-optimized SCPC links.

XipLink’s XA-Series appliances include a range of industrial computing engines that scale for wireless carriers from 2 Mbps to high-performance systems running at 155 Mbps, with the best capital cost ratio in the industry.  For mobile users, XipLink also offers the XS family of specialty devices, including the palm-sized XipStick™ for MSS and mobile military VSAT requirements as well as the XS-104 single board computer for rugged computing on the move.
